Milton Keynes has a vibrant and growing cultural offer, with surprising spaces and compelling history. It is a designed city, the largest in Europe, built from a modernist masterplan that enveloped the existing market towns, creating a diverse and rich place to live. After a successful celebration of our fiftieth birthday in 2017, we are now focussing on the future; building a Creative and Cultured City.
In order to share the exciting cultural things that happen in Milton Keynes, we are developing a new cultural website and communications strategy. The new website requires significant work and investment and will be ready to launch our 2019 programme. The city is soon to adopt and publish a collaborative Creative and Cultural Strategy setting out a joint vision and a framework to develop the cultural ecology of Milton Keynes. This document will outline how the city will support talent development, build infrastructure and raise both the ambition and profile of our cultural offer.
The website you are looking at provides a home to two big projects we are developing and delivering in 2018 as part of this new way forward, whilst the new digital portal is being worked up. It will also continue to hold the MK50 pages as part of the legacy of the year.
The main featured project is:
Sharing Culture (in support of European Year of Cultural Heritage) – a 7-month programme of activities and events that showcase the cultural heritage of Milton Keynes.
